RH Cardiovascular CT Research Unit & DTU Collaboration
Starting off this year, DTU and Rigshospitalets Cardiovascular CT Research Unit had a kick-off workshop event held at Blocs & Walls. The event was arranged by Rasmus (DTU Professor in Medical Imaging Analysis) who enjoys wallclimbing on a weekly basis. The topic for the event was ARTICHOKE – which is a tandem project about left atrial appendage and left ventricular morphology correlated to the risk of stroke.
Medical and technical approach
Combining clinical and engineering aspects in multiple brainstorming sessions, a lot of interesting hypothesis for the project was generated. Utilizing AI for deep learning segmentation of the left atrial appendage, we aim to discover novel imaging biomarkers correlated to stroke.
International collaboration
Participants included Maxime Sermesant, researcher and Head of Computational Cardiology at Inria, the French National Research Institute in Digital Sciences and Technology, and Oscar Camara, professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra specializing in computational heart modelling. Besides having a close relation to professor Rasmus Paulsen at DTU, they greatly contributed with insight in computational cardiac modelling and the possibilities of using deep learning based methods for novel imaging cardiovascular biomarkers.
